It’s hard to believe that it’s been well over a year since my last post. As you can imagine, after the arrival of baby number 2 and purchasing our first house in France, things became a little hectic. I’m not sure where to begin. Life is full of many twists, turns, and surprises – and mine is no exception. Would you believe me if I told you that we’re now living in Normandy?
Time has passed so quickly, I can hardly believe that my little girl has started school and my son is starting to talk. Juliana turned 3 years old in October and started going to school in the mornings from 9am until 12pm. Both kids are active, healthy, and keep me on my toes. I’ve been so busy with them and renovating houses, that I took a pause from writing. Immediately after we finished renovating our little house in Provence, we took a 2 month trip to Florida to introduce my family to our new son, and then a few months after we returned, we were looking at homes in Normandy.
I’m still loving my life in France and enjoy raising our children here. The kids understand both languages perfectly, and are enjoying a simple life in a small village. Each day, I love watching the sunrise in the family room as I comb my daughter’s hair, filling our wood burning stove with firewood and spending time cooking with fresh ingredients. We’re taking it each day at a time, trying to slow down and enjoy ourselves. Our kids will only be this little for so long, so we’re enjoying these moments before they too pass us by.
I missed blogging and am excited to get started up again. I’m going to get started on removing all the spam comments that have accumulated while I was away, and also replace plugins that are no longer working correctly and respond to all the comments I missed (better late than never). I’m not sure if I’ll be able to keep it up regularly, as I have more large projects lined up ahead of me. Nothing like renovating a home in France! I’ve learned the most French after taking on these projects. I may not be able clearly express my emotions or dreams in French, but I sure can talk to someone about installing tile floors or patching up cracked walls.
Without any further delay, I’m going to finally reveal how our life has been over the past year and a half. I’ll include tips on buying and renovating a home, as well as everything I’ve learned about being a parent in this beautiful country. Mixed in will be fun activities and crafts you can do with your kids in France, as well as cool places to take your little ones.
Let’s start with our first renovation project… our little townhouse in Provence. Tomorrow, I’ll give you a guided tour and tips on buying a house in France. Talk to you soon!
