Our 12th Week Ultrasound – Well… Almost
As I mentioned in an earlier post, as soon as we found out I was pregnant, my husband called the hospital to schedule me an appointment to see an OB/GYN. He was told it wasn't necessary to see a doctor this early, but scheduled me for a 12-week ultrasound.Since then, we saw a doctor outside of the hospital because I had questions and felt more comfortable seeing someone early. This doctor has an ultrasound machine in her examination room and we did an ultrasound at 5 weeks and 7 weeks. We found out the baby is a week younger than calculated, so we shouldn't be using the first day of my … [Read more...]

Surviving the First Trimester
I'm ten weeks pregnant and have trouble focusing on writing. Cloudy mind, fatigue, aching back - all I want to do is curl up in my warm bed with a steaming cup of decaffeinated tea. One of the disadvantages of living in the French countryside... no delivery. One thing cheering me up is my position in the top 25 European Mom Blog contest! I'm in 2nd place and only … [Read more...]

For instance, if the child was adopted by French parents, born to unknown parents (abandoned), born to stateless parents, or to parents who could not grant the child their nationality. Since my husband is French, my daughter has French nationality. I'm the only one who has … [Read more...]

First Ultrasound is at 12 Weeks in France – Why Go Sooner?
As soon as we received a positive blood test result, my husband schedule an appointment for me to meet with a OB-GYN. However, the doctor at the maternité in Manosque refused to see me before reaching the 12 week mark. We were told it's unnecessary for me to see a doctor at this time, so my first appointment will be when the first ultrasound will be done. The receptionist recommended us seeing our normal doctor if we had questions or concerns before this appointment.I wanted to meet with an OB/GYN soon for a prescription for prenatal vitamins and discuss breastfeeding while being … [Read more...]
