When I began my search for baby cribs in France, I was not sure where to start.
I wanted a high quality baby bed that was under 200 euros, but could be up to 350 euros if worth it. I also wanted a lit evolutif, which is a baby bed that converts into a toddler bed. This way the baby bed would last until our daughter is five or six years old. Since we already had a new mattress 70 cm x 140 cm, I was especially limited on options.
Online Stores to Buy a Crib in France
My first thought when buying a crib was to get a new one online. We live far from boutiques, so it would save time and gas. I found an adorable Princess bed on Aubert’s website, but it would take five weeks for it to arrive, and they do not sell baby cribs in their physical store locations. I did not want to wait five weeks, and it was hard to tell the quality, so I passed on it. But it was one absolutely adorable bed!
Advantages:
- Cheaper than buying in a store.
- Save on gas from driving.
- Conveniently shipped to your door, so no heavy lifting.
- Most websites offer free shipping when you spend a certain amount.
- The bed will be new, so there will not be any blemishes.
- More choices available for standard and convertible cribs.
Disadvantages:
- Most websites make you wait between 4 to 16 weeks for the crib to delivered.
- You do not get to see the crib in person to evaluate its quality.
- May be damaged during shipping.

Used Cribs for Sale in France
If you want a crib quickly and cannot find affordable ones in local stores, another option is to start looking at used cribs. The most popular options are going to vide greniers (neighborhood yard sales) and searching the online classifieds.
I checked the schedule of vide greniers in my region and for the next several weeks, all the ones that will be held are over an hour away from me. I was nervous about driving the distance and not finding a crib that I liked. So, I decided to check the online classifieds.
Advantages:
- Usually cheaper than purchasing new.
- Many beds come with the mattress or other crib items.
- View the bed in person before making the purchase.
Disadvantages:
- You will have to enter someone’s home instead of going to a store.
- If you change your mind after purchasing, you cannot return it.
- You have to check the classifieds daily because excellent deals are taken quickly.
- Heavy lifting may be involved to take in and out of your car.
- Beds may be noticeably used or have inperfections.
